Why Pigeon Dynamite?

Image
It's been already over six months since my brand Pigeon Dynamite  debuted in Etsy this year. Some of you might know though it was actually established in 2012. The previous name of the brand was Pigeon Robot, but my collection was initially started in a different blog which I won't give the name of. But just to talk a little bit about it (mostly for my sentimental nostalgia), I named my old blog from a Japanese porn star  who had attempted to suicide but failed at that time. (She eventually succeeded and died.) I might thought of keeping the name if she didn't die, but when I finally decided to  put my brand name out in public, it just didn't seem like it was a good idea to put a name from someone dead specially when she killed herself. Then why not Pigeon Robot?  Well I have to say that "Pigeon" was already decided. I thought that Pigeon was a good representation of the city of New York and also peace. Personally, I am no

September 14th, Pigeon Dynamite had its first public sale debut at Artists&Fleas in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. For those of you who do not know what Artists&Fleas is; Artists&Fleas provides their warehouse space for the selected designers/vendors to sell their products and is open to public every weekends. (check out their website for more information: Artists&Fleas ) A few vendors are permanent, some are longer terms, others are short term and could be the first time sellers just like me. And Williamsburg is very well populated area in Brooklyn now.  There is Smorgasburg (another food vendors outdoor event. Spectacular. Just awesome.) on every Saturdays and Brooklyn Flea on every Sundays happening right by the East River which is just a block from Artists&Fleas venue. Pigeon Dynamite's

Obatarian spirit of mind

Image
In the late 80s, there was this incredibly original character which became  the Japanese social phenomenon through 90s yet that was something  people had already known its existence called Obatarian. Obatarian on the cover Obatarian is the Japanese 4-cell-manga, called yon-koma manga, that started in the late 80s and became phenomenally popular in Japan.  Obatarian is a coined word of "Obasan" which means old women in Japanese and "Battalion" which is the Japanese title for the '85 American horror movie "The Return of the Living Dead." I am not a horror movie fan and have never watched the series (supposedly they've made  5 of them so far.) but according to the reviews, this movie is significantly different from  any of the zombie movies around the period that they say the zombies could sprint like athletes, have brains just like human, and most ridiculously they never "get killed" or "die." Anyhow-this
