Winter Wonderland

Honestly, I am so ready to hibernate while watching the forecast for the next few days. Even though it took a while for NY to get really cold like usual this year, once the real cold hit NY, I was like "I'm done. Wake me up when spring comes." 2015 was supposedly the record breaking hottest year. While I really don't mind having warmer weather, it also concerns me about many, many things such as rise of sea levels, abnormal frequency of hurricanes and endangered of animals. Maybe it's time to go back and re-read my older post about conserving energy.and Ryan Gosling. Anyhow, while we could be buried in snow in the East Coast, there are some brighter things I can love more because it is winter. 1. Hot Chocolate. I mean, really. Who wouldn't like hot chocolate in the winter? I don't really like hot chocolate in the summer or any other season but isn't it winter survival 101? ...with Marshmallow? Yes please. 2. Ramen. This c

New Year, New Start.

I know it's late but  H a p py N e w Y e a r! Hope everyone had a wonderful 2015. Personally, it was a bit of bitter start last year but overall everyone I love was healthy and happy. Many great things happened to Pigeon Dynamite so I cannot complain. I don't really set a goal or year resolution particularly..but I love welcoming new year as a fresh new start. In Japan, we do this "tidy up" household before new year as a tradition. It is to clean up the whole house to get rid of bad spirit and prepare to welcome the new year to bring good luck.  There are many Japanese New Year's Shinto traditions and I love the whole event. From the New Years Eve to the New Years Day, people in Japan celebrate the day eating soba noodle, which they believe it is to wish for longevity.  The Japanese kids get cold, hard cash gift called "Otoshi-dama" from their parents and relatives. It is like kids receiving gifts from Santa Clause on C
